FORMATION APOSTOLATE
The Province has 4 Formation Houses in India, besides the management of St Clement Interdiocesan Philosophate (Nagaon), 1 Formation House in SA Region, and 19 confreres fully engaged in the Formation Apostolate (including confreres at the service of Suvidya College, Bangalore, Lumen Christi Institute, Arusha, and Morning Star Regional Seminary, Barrackpore, Kolkata).
Preparation for the mission: Our Constitutions highlight that consecrated life is for mission and the years of formation are actually intense preparation for mission. The Province has taken concrete steps to equip our formees to face the challenges in their ministry after ordination. We have taken measures to ensure that our scholastics gain sufficient mastery of a local language during the seminary days. We have given a specified period of time for learning local language during their formation at MSFS Study House by sending them to missions during vacation and for diaconate ministry. Formation programme has been restructured to give a better formation to the candidates. New steps were also taken to make our formation more relevant and truly Fransalian. In order to foster Salesian spirituality in formation houses the formators take special attention and accompany the formees through assignments, group discussions, etc., on Salesian themes.
