Holy Redeemer Renewal Centre: Tura
In the month of June 2015, a piece of land in Tura measuring 12 bighas (4 acres) was purchased in view of establishing a renewal centre. The land belonged to Mr Hubert and Mrs Maria, prayer group members of HRRC, Umroi, and a great friend and benefactor of late Fr Chacko Varapadavil. Fr Saji Kaippallil who was appointed the Director of the centre began to stay at Tura in a rented house at Lower Danakgre area from September 21, 2015.
Foundation for the residence of priests was blessed and laid on June 21, 2016 at the site. On September 19, 2016, at 3.00 pm Fr George Panthanmackel, the former Provincial of Northeast India province, inaugurated the newly built residence of the fathers at the newly acquired land and Most Rev. Andrew Marak, the Bishop of Tura blessed the new house in the presence of a number of priests, sisters and lay collaborators. The first retreat programme at the new site commenced from October 7, 2016.
Since 2016 the date of ‘One-day Conventions’ was shifted to every second Saturday of the month. Priests from HRRC, Umroi, assist at these conventions. Many diocesan priests help at the conventions as confessors and celebrants of the Holy Mass. The centre also conducts ‘One day Charismatic Convention’ at St Francis de Sales Church at Nongalbibra on every fifth Saturday of the month.
