Mary Mother of Compassion Parish: Panbari
Mary Mother of Compassion Parish, Panbari, in the diocese of Bongaigaon was officially opened on April 8, 2013. The new mission was carved out from the existing parish of Bijni. Fr Ronesh Narzary was installed as the first Parish Priest of Panbari by Most Rev. Thomas Pulloppillil, Bishop of Bongaigaon.
The Catholics belong mainly to Bodo Community. There are three villages, namely Thaisobari, Mwinaguri and Amlaiguri with the Catholic population of 350. There are 55 Catholic families. After the canonical erection of the parish, there were 60 adult baptisms and 100 confirmations. There were thirty child Baptisms and 40 first communicants. The faithful are regular for the Holy Mass, confession and active in all the church programmes. The villages are economically and educationally backward. With the formation of SHG’s and awareness training on various skills by FAsCE India, their outlooks for the development of the society changed.
Sisters of St Joseph’s of Annecy
Sisters St Joseph’s of Annecy, Bhubaneswar Province, joined the Parish on January 26, 2014 and assist in all the Pastoral and educational works of the parish.
