FRANSAIAN YOUTH MISSION (FYM)

Fransalian Youth Mission, Northeast India, flagged off in 1995 in view of evangelizing and re-evangelizing the youth. It provides opportunities to build up the youngsters of North East Region, by bringing about a change in the life of the youngsters and thereby in the society. The FYM reaches out to the youth through Youth camps, Leadership training programmes, animation programmes, Self-employment opportunities, Career Guidance, Teacher training programme, Youth retreats, faith formation, evangelisation through music ministry and coaching classes. The target groups of the Fransalian Youth Ministry are the School and College Students, Catholic Youth associations, youngsters in different categories, school dropouts, unemployed youth, disillusioned and demoralised youth.

Jimmy Mathirampuzha was appointed as the Director of ‘Fransalian Youth Mission’ with its motto as ‘Live Love: Give Jesus’. The Fransalian Youth Ministry aims at bringing about a change in the life of the youngsters and thereby in the society. The target groups of the Fransalian Youth Ministry are the School and College Students, Catholic Youth Associations, school drop- outs, unemployed youth, disillusioned and demoralized youth and workingyouth.

As part of the commitment to the youth of the region, since 1998, the province has been setting apart priests for the youth apostolate (Frs Jimmy Mathirampuzha, John Barman, Milikius Tirky and Ronesh Narzary). Besides, under the umbrella of FYM, the MSFS in North East India formed a group of young MSFS priests to organize different programmes in the parishes. Fr Jimmy served as Director of FYM until 2003.

Fr John Barman was appointed Director of FYM in July19, 2014. The FYM conducts Youth Camps, Leadership training programmes, Awareness response, Animation programmes, Self-employment opportunities, Career guidance, Teachers training programme, Youth retreats, Faith formation, Evangelization through music ministry and Music coaching classes.

FYM in collaboration with FAsCE India initiated a programme called, ‘Youth for Peace Building’. It’s a Training of Peace Volunteers in Northeast India, and as a part of it, formed peace clubs in many of our mission parishes.

There are 8 Regional Youth Directors- RYD (Arunachal Mission, Khasi Hills, Garo Hills, Upper Assam, Lower Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur) and Local Youth Directors (LYD) in the respective parishes (one of the priests). All are working in close collaboration for a better society. The FYM has a Newsletter for the Fransalian Youth Wing.
