St. Francis de Sales Secondary School, Mawryngkneng
During the tenure of Fr Michael Balawan sdb as Parish Priest of Nongthymmai parish, Roman Catholic Primary School (RCLP) school was opened in 1976. It was later renamed M.E. school. He used to visit the school and encouraged the students to come to the school regularly and study well.
St Francis de Sales Secondary school, Mawryngkneng, was earlier known as RCLP school, Mawnang-Mawryngkeng. Before the arrival of the MSFS in 2003, the school already existed from Nursary to Class VIII. It was started in 1966 by Fr Usai sdb and was upgraded to upper primary (U P) school by Fr Michael Balwan sdb in 1974. The MSFS, on their arrival, renamed it and upgraded it to class X. Today, it has 320 students, 17 teaching staff (2 Salvatorian sisters). In 2014, the school was regularised and affiliation was granted by the MBOSE (Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education).
